The Invisalign Advantage

We all want a smile that we can confidently show off. But malocclusion can create a crooked smile we often want to hide instead. Not only that, but misaligned teeth can also lead to worsening dental problems. Invisalign in Calgary, AB, could help straighten your teeth without the need for traditional wire and bracket braces. This discreet alternative to braces has helped many patients find a straighter smile they can be proud of. After examining your mouth and bite, your dentist can determine if Invisalign is right for you.

The Benefits of Using Invisalign in Calgary, AB

Outside of the obvious advantage of discreteness, Invisalign offers many other benefits for patients.

Easy Brushing and Flossing

One of the main challenges with traditional braces is finding ways to properly clean your teeth and gums. The wires and brackets can be difficult and even painful to brush or floss around. Many patients with traditional braces tend to let their oral health decline because of this.

Invisalign, on the other hand, offers easier at-home oral hygiene practices. Because the clear aligners are easy to remove, patients can brush and floss with greater ease. While there are a few ‘buttons’ on your teeth that hold the aligners in, they tend to be much easier to clean around.

Fewer Dietary Restrictions

When you have traditional braces, you have to be extra cautious about what you eat. Certain foods can get stuck in your braces, while others can damage them. With Invisalign, however, you don’t have to worry so much about dietary restrictions. When you go to eat, you simply take out your aligners and can eat most of the foods and drinks you enjoy.

It is important to note that you still need to have some caution when eating and drinking. To help prevent plaque buildup, for example, you’ll need to brush your teeth after eating and before you put your aligners back in. Because of this, it’s generally recommended that you avoid acidic foods and drinks that can weaken your enamel. This can cause enamel loss if you brush too soon after consuming them.

Fewer Office Visits

When you start Invisalign, you’ll get a series of aligner trays that you’ll swap out every few weeks. Switching to a new set of trays is a bit like getting your braces tightened. But since you start out with the set of trays you need, you won’t have to visit your dentist as often for adjustments or progress checks. You should still see your dentist at least every six months while in treatment to ensure everything is progressing as it should and no other dental problems have cropped up.

If you’re unhappy with the way your smile looks, Invisalign may be able to help. At Foothills Dentistry, we believe everyone deserves a smile they can feel confident showing off.
