Dental Veneers vs. Bioclear

Treatment with Bioclear vs. Porcelain Veneers in Calgary, AB

Bioclear, also known as injection over-molding, adds structure to teeth. Bioclear uses a composite material color-matched to the shade of natural teeth to create a more even and balanced smile. During Bioclear treatment, we add the composite to the teeth, only removing portions of the tooth that are damaged or decayed. Bioclear is minimally invasive and does not require any preparation. Treatment also typically takes one day, as Bioclear doesn’t need tooth preparation or dental impressions.

With the right care, Bioclear treatment can last ten years. Bioclear can also be a more economical option for patients with minor cosmetic issues, including black triangles, gaps between teeth, tooth chips, and cracks in the tooth enamel.

Veneers are similar to Bioclear but use porcelain shells to cover the front of one or more teeth in the smile line. Our office uses dental veneers made of porcelain because it is known for its durability and aesthetics. Patients with more extensive tooth damage or teeth that require protection benefit from veneers because they are made from a thicker material. Veneers require more tooth preparation. Because veneers are thicker than alternatives like Bioclear, the preparation process ensures that the veneers do not look or feel bulky.

Dental veneers can last longer than Bioclear, typically ten to fifteen years with the right care. We will often recommend dental veneers over Bioclear if patients have slightly crooked teeth or tooth stains. Veneers also offer a thicker, more protective material for patients with tooth damage.

Get a Natural-Looking Smile

Both veneers and Bioclear use tooth-colored materials to treat the teeth in the smile line, or the ones that show when you smile. While these treatments may benefit patients with slightly different goals, veneers and Bioclear can enhance the smile’s aesthetics. Upkeep is also the same with veneers and Bioclear; gently brushing and flossing will keep your results bright and ensure that your veneers or Bioclear treatment lasts.
